Oven & Range Repair
Done Right.

Uneven heat, dead burners, or a no-show igniter? Chad gets dinner back on track. Chad gives you a straight diagnosis and an honest price before he starts.

A broken oven turns every dinner into a campfire negotiation. Whether your bake element gave out, your gas igniter won't stop clicking, or your stovetop burner refuses to light, Sasquatch Appliance Repair can get your kitchen back on the trail. Chad works on electric and gas ovens, ranges, and cooktops from all major manufacturers.

Common Symptoms

Oven won't heat or heats unevenly. On electric ovens, the bake element (the lower one) fails more often than the broil element — you'll often see a visible burn spot or break in the coil. Uneven heating usually points to a failed element or a temperature calibration issue.

Gas oven won't ignite. Most gas ovens use an electronic igniter (a glowing silicon carbide rod) rather than a pilot light. When the igniter weakens, it glows but doesn't get hot enough to open the gas valve. The oven clicks without lighting or lights only after a long delay. This is a common, affordable repair.

Gas burner keeps clicking or won't light. Continuous clicking usually means moisture got into the ignition switch — common after a boilover. Let the burner dry out completely; if it persists, the switch needs replacing. A burner that doesn't light is often clogged burner ports or a failed spark igniter.

Oven temperature runs hot or cold. If your food consistently overcooks or undercooks at the set temperature, the oven sensor or thermostat may be off. Many ovens can be re-calibrated without replacing parts — and that 30-degree swing makes a real difference in baking.

Self-clean cycle failure. The door latch mechanism or control board may have failed. Never attempt to force the door open during or after a self-clean cycle.

Control panel not responding. Usually a control board or touchpad failure. In some cases, heat damage from an oven that ran too hot has damaged the electronics.

Maintenance Tips

Keep the bottom of the oven clean. Accumulated grease and food debris can ignite during cooking, which is unpleasant and hard on the oven's interior. Wipe up spills when the oven cools, before they carbonize.

Clean gas burner caps and ports regularly. Clogged ports cause uneven flames or failure to ignite. Remove the burner caps after the cooktop cools and clear the ports with a toothpick or soft brush — don't use water on the igniter itself.

Check your oven's temperature accuracy with an oven thermometer. If the readout and the actual temperature are consistently off, the sensor can often be re-calibrated or replaced before it becomes a larger problem.

Don't use the self-clean feature more than a few times a year. Self-clean cycles run at extremely high temperatures and can stress the control board and door latch components. Occasional manual cleaning is gentler on the machine.

Signs It's Near the End of the Trail

The control board has failed on a range that's over 12 years old. Boards are expensive, and at that age, the rest of the machine is aging too.

You have multiple burners that have failed, the oven runs inconsistently, and the range is a decade old. At that point you're chasing a machine that's collectively failing rather than having one thing fixed.

There's visible damage to the oven cavity itself — cracked enamel that exposes bare metal, warped racks that don't seat properly. These are signs of hard use and age.

We'll walk you through the economics. Sometimes the repair makes obvious sense; sometimes a new range is the smarter call, and we'll tell you that too.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge for estimates?

For most repairs, we provide a diagnostic assessment and quote before any work begins. You'll know the cost upfront before we turn a wrench. There is a standard service call fee to come out and diagnose — that fee is applied toward your repair if you choose to proceed.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Bryan, College Station, and the surrounding Brazos Valley communities. If you're nearby and not sure whether we cover your area, give us a call at 979-402-1241 and we'll let you know.

What brands do you work on?

We work on all major appliance brands including Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Bosch, KitchenAid, Electrolux, Speed Queen, and more — both gas and electric, top-load and front-load. If you're not sure whether your brand or model is serviceable, just ask.

Do you offer same-day or emergency service?

We do our best to accommodate same-day appointments, especially for urgent situations like a refrigerator that's stopped cooling. Availability varies by day. Call 979-402-1241 and we'll let you know what we can do.

What's included in the maintenance plans?

Each maintenance plan includes an inspection and service visit for one or more appliances, depending on the plan tier. We check key components, clean critical areas (coils, filters, vents), run performance tests, and flag any early warning signs before they become expensive repairs. The Lil' Squatch Check covers one appliance; the Squatch Tune-Up covers two; Beast Mode covers your whole home. Replacement parts and labor for repairs found during the inspection are not included in the package pricing but will be quoted before any work proceeds.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, check, and most major credit and debit cards. Payment is due at the time of service.

Do you fix gas appliances, or only electric?

We work on both gas and electric appliances — ovens, ranges, dryers, and more. All gas work is performed to manufacturer specification. If a gas line connection or shutoff is involved beyond the appliance itself, we'll let you know and coordinate accordingly.

What should I do if my appliance is making a burning smell or sounds dangerous?

Stop using it immediately. Unplug it if it's electric, or turn off the gas supply valve if it's a gas appliance. A burning smell — especially plastic or electrical — can indicate a fire risk. Call us at 979-402-1241 and we'll prioritize getting someone out to you. Don't run the appliance again until it's been inspected.
